About the District

House District 27 is one of the fastest growing and most diverse districts in the State of Texas. Over 150,000 people live in the district, of which two-thirds are African-American or Latino. The population base of the district lies in Missouri City, Richmond and Rosenberg with some residents living in Stafford, Pecan Grove and Houston.

Four school districts are in or overlap with District 27: Fort Bend ISD, Lamar Consolidated ISD, Needville ISD and Stafford MSD. The district is divided into 61 voting precincts. In 2004, a total of 60,168 people voted in the November election out of 86,119 registered voters.
